Working with a neighbors property to benefit both

What the client wanted:

Neighboring clients wanted to remove an ivy-covered chain link fence between their properties. On one side of the fence was an eroding slope and on the other side, excessive runoff.

What we did:

BB came up with a solution that met the needs of both clients by replacing the chain link fence with a stone retaining wall and custom-built cedar fence. To control erosion and runoff, we planted the slope above the wall with deep-rooted grasses and perennials and installed a river rock swale and rain garden below the wall . A new flagstone patio and path connect the lower house with the garden.

What we love:

The careful integration of the two properties captures the runoff from one to the next and expands the garden for both clients.
