Thankfully, anyone can grow a successful veggie garden, not just your grandparents. Even if you’ve have space for just containers and herbs, the approach is the same:
Step 1: If you’re like us, the veggie garden is usually a mess near the end of winter
Step 2: Put down a fresh layer of compost under the watchful eye of Mr. Bond. We use LeafGro which is available throughout the DMV.
Step 3: Plant carefully and according to the instructions on the packet.
Step 4: Make sure your products are OMRI-certified and ordered from a family business like Johnny’s Selected Seeds
Step 5: Fertilize with your favorite. Here we are using Neptune’s Harvest fish fertilizer which Mr. Bond finds delicious.
In less than two hours, the first planting is done and ready for some rain. In the meantime, there is some kale that over-wintered which we will have for dinner tonight.
Step 6: Now, grab your favorite chair and a beverage and start imagining what you’re going to have in a couple months.
